Above is a photo of my gorgeous mother on her wedding day. Not only is it one of my favourite photographs of her but it also reminds me of how creative, patient and talented she is. Whilst the ‘big day’ can be immensely stressful for most brides my mother bravely set herself the (daunting) task of baking and decorating her own wedding cake!

Since her ‘first try’ (on possibly the biggest day of her life) she has perfected her craft and made hundreds of brides special days even more special.

Its been years since I’ve sat up on the kitchen bench late at night, helping her make icing roses or giving my opinion on flower arrangements but they are very vivid and special memories for me. A creative practise we could both share.

Below are some of my feeble ‘attempts’ at cake decorating. Hopefully one day I can make some creations half as wonderful as mums.

    Your mum sounds awesome.

My favourite of yours is the dog. I also like how all your cakes come with names 🙂 Now I wish I was around for my birthday. (For future reference it should look like Winston. Or the sleepy kitten from that YouTube clip I like.)

I just saw your mum today and she was telling about your blog, and that she had contributed some cake images for your site. I couldn’t wait to go and have a look. Loved them. Bernard Ring
