Well after exactly one week I am pleased to announce the latest update on our pool table restoration.
The table is almost complete with the only thing stopping us from playing our maiden game being the lack of pockets. We hope to have them in our hot little hands and affix to the bumpers as soon as possible. For now though, I will post a few photos of the latest constructions and the current status of the table.
The first image is of the re-covering of the side bumpers – which involved spray adhesiving, staple gunning and ‘butter kniving’ (the tedious act of wedging the felt between the bumper and the side timber panel). The second image shows the spray adhesived felt bonded to the table top. This task took me back to covering school books with contact, as we had to smooth out any lumps/bumps during this process – any imperfections will effect the game dramatically.
We then needed to cut and shape the felt around the holes and affix tightly with staples.
Finally we attached the bumpers to the table top using long screws.
And the (almost) finished product. Not bad for a weeks worth of work…
Whose up for a game?
